am a descendant of the Hectors. My 7th generation grandfather escaped from the West Indies and came to Wilkes County Georgia. His son landed in Clarke County Georgia. I would like to get more information on Harry Hector. I can not find him in the census. Thanks.

Amazing website. This is a really interesting and significant way of connecting and (re)creating community. In my initial research, it appears that I am descendant on Favors who lived in the Washington/Wilkes area of Georgia and who intermarried with the Young/Tolbert family from near Anderson, SC. Eventually they ended up in Oberlin, OH around the turn of the century.

I can't wait to get past some of my other work duties to really delve into all you have going on here. That said, I'm also writing about that discusses the idea of slave history as a tourist attraction. If you might be interested in discussing that idea with me, I would love to talk with you.

Thanks so much for your work on this topic, and it's great to run across someone of similar origins.

Thank you forsharing your finding. Ironically, I just attended Jake Shaw's funeral. He is related to the Cody's via Milly Shaw. His nephew is Curtis Howell still living.
